What are the characteristics of the design of the shaded pole motor

A shaded pole motor is a type of single-phase AC motor that is widely used in a variety of applications, including fans, blowers, and small appliances. It is a simple and cost-effective motor that does not require any external starting mechanism or additional components.
Design of a Shaded Pole Motor
A shaded pole motor consists of a stator, rotor, and shading coil. The stator is a stationary part of the motor that contains the main winding, which is connected to the AC power source. The rotor is a cylindrical core made of laminated steel sheets, which is mounted on a shaft and placed inside the stator. The shading coil is a small coil of wire that is wound around a portion of the stator poles, adjacent to the rotor.
The rotor of a shaded pole motor does not have any windings or magnets. Instead, it relies on the magnetic field produced by the stator to rotate. When AC power is applied to the main winding, an alternating magnetic field is produced in the stator. This field induces a current in the shading coil, which creates a secondary magnetic field that lags behind the primary field by 90 degrees.
The lagging magnetic field produced by the shading coil creates a non-uniform magnetic field around the rotor. This non-uniform field causes the rotor to experience a net torque, which causes it to rotate. The rotation of the rotor is in the direction of the shading coil, due to the presence of a greater magnetic flux in that direction.
