The Difference Between Brush Motor And Brushless Motor

Today let's talk about the core component of vacuum cleaner:motor. Now there are two types on the market, namely DC brushed motor and brushless motor.

Brush motor is ordinary, which refers to the motor with a pair of carbon brushes. The brushes rub against coil connectors and generate electricity supplying to motor. Thus the motor is faster, the force of friction is greater and temperature rises faster. With the increase of using carbon brush, the suction of the vacuum cleaner is reduced. When the wear of the carbon brush reaches to the limit, motor lifetime is expired.

For vacuum cleaners equipped with brush motors, the suction value is generally expressed by the vacuum degree (kPa). The higher the value, the greater the suction. The technology of brush motor is quite mature, and structure is simple, convenient maintenance, low cost, so it’s used in the vacuum cleaner a lot.

Brushless motor, refers to the motor without carbon brush. It uses a drive controller instead of carbon brush, and it becomes a whole. Its life is several or a dozen times than brush motor. The speed of brushless motor is very fast as it adopts magnetic induction, no touching, so that the vacuum cleaner noise is lower and suction is stronger (the speed of the vacuum cleaner is faster and the suction is stronger).

For vacuum cleaners equipped with brushless motors, the suction value is expressed by suction power (W) (not motor power). Suction power is the operating efficiency of the vacuum cleaner, and also can be simply understood as vacuum cleaner performance, which means it gets the maximum power when motor works, under the influence of the air flow and suction vacuum degree. In general, the suction power is higher, the suction is stronger. The advantage of bushless motor is strong suction, low noise, but with relative high cost.
